rented a house for next year without a dishwasher, we had one last year though and were wondering how much we'd miss it. any comments would be appreciated.

you won't miss it much. honestly, it doesn't take much effort or time to scrub a dish or a pan with a sponge by hand (as long as you do it immediately and don't let the used dishes pile up). if you and your housemates are lazy/spoiled, then get a dishwasher.

It depends on how lazy you and your housemates are.

Last year, I lived in apartment style and we didn't have a dishwasher. Two of my flatmates were pretty gross when it came to dishes. They only washed them when the whole sink was over-flowing with dirty dishes.

If you guys can quickly clean up after yourselves, there's not much need for a dishwasher. But if you're like my previous flatmates, then I'd say it's wise to get one.

Also, if there are a lot of people living in the house, it won't be a bad idea either.

it isn't worth the investment if you and your housemates soap n sponge it urself. besides you use less water and stuff..

That's a good idea. I bought a countertop dishwasher before, but if you get into the good habit of soaking everything before you eat your dinner, it will take no time to wash the dishes.
