Is it worth it to upgrade a class?
I didn't do good in one of the first year math courses (got a 3), because I deferred tests and the didnt study enough for the final. However, I have to take the SECOND first year math now, in second year, and im wondering if its worth it to take the course i did poorly in in first semester and review the material and hopefully get a better mark than that ugly 3. And then, go into the second math, second semester, confidently.

The academic advisor said if you know the material, forget redoing the course, but I'm a little scared the second math might be a reflection of the first one.

any opinions?

Which math courses are you referring to? And do you actually know the material from the first math course?

absolutely not, unless you need it to get into some program (im under the impression you dont) cut your losses and get 12 in another course instead of repeating the same one.

If you're looking at it for a review that would be a good way to go into it. However, both grades (the 3 and whatever new grade you get) will appear on your transcript, so you won't be getting rid of the 3.

I think if your looking at professional schools in the future or post-graduate education, you may want to research if you will be penalized for re-doing a course. Look it up on some forums because you may have to be able to explain it to future employers or interviewers (given that they look at your transcripts).
