Yet another "Will I get kicked out?" threads..
So I just did my first year in Social Sciences at Mac, and my C.A. was unfortunately below 3 (out of 12). I screwed up my first year by getting carried away and having way too much fun for my own good. I realize this now, and extremely regret it. I really want to be able to continue at McMaster, as it is such an amazing and reputable university. I saw my final grade report online, which clearly showed that my C.A. was below 3. However, the surprising part was that it never said that I may not continue at McMaster. Also, I surprisingly never got put on probation last semester when my average was as bad. Do any of you have any idea why this is and what may happen to me now? Will I be able to continue at McMaster in September?

As hard as it is to say, that is strange actually. I would contact the school, because you don't want to wait three months to find out you're not registered anymore - that could screw up other things like course selection and OSAP if you're applying.

As mentioned in one of the other threads, I believe you could "re-frosh", like do first year over again -- although I'm not sure how this works if the university didn't let you continue in the first place. But it seems as though you can continue. Yeah, but definitely get in touch with the registrar or maybe your academic advisor.

I believe you're technically on academic probation. You can't (from what I've been told from friends who also had a not-so-good first year) be kicked out without being on probation first.

I know a guy who failed 6 out of 10 of his first year courses...he got a 'may not continue' without any sort of probation, and could not return to McMaster for a year. I'm not sure what the issue is, I think it's something like you must receive a failing grade on no more than 20% of your courses (Or at least I think I remember reading that on the back of a transcript).

after first semester they dont do an academic review so you wont get put on academic probabtion. If your CA is less than 3, you will not be able to continue at the university unless you write a letter of reinstatement which may allow you to continue in sept '09.
