Right now, the price for Canadians is expected to be $659 and $779 for the 16GB and 32GB models respectively. Keep in mind that the phone will come completely unlocked and you can use it with any carrier that supports SIM or Micro-SIM cards
So, are you gonna buy an iPhone 4 at that price? Im thinking ill wait a couple weeks for other stores to have it and sell it for cheaper

The fact that people will line up in droves to drop 600-800 for a phone is a good example of the marketing machine that is Apple. People fall for it hook, line, and sinker, and when I see it in the Apple store it disgusts me.

I won't deny that its a good phone... but wow.

While I'd like a new phone, i definitely don't have the affordability to purchase one; especially not one for that price. I'm also locked into another 2 years with Rogers so I suppose I'll wait until then

I doubt it will get cheaper soon if your buying it outright.....well I'm going to be waiting inline Friday for this bad boy......also those prices listed above are estimates as i have heard so im still leaning towards anywhere from either 649 or 699.

It will. It always is cheaper from other stores (not the big ones..)

I thought I should mention that this is for the UNLOCKED iPhone 4.

The actual on-contract prices (which I suspect most students will get) will be similar to the 3GS's when it launched.

How much does an iPhone run you a month anyway? Heard around 70$ for a decent plan?

The base data plans start at $50. Rogers has one that gives you unlimited email, social networking, and messaging on top of 500MB bandwidth for that price. Not to shabby IMO.

EDIT: That may only be for other smartphones.

Even if that's the unlocked price, just seems a little crazy to me. I was under the impression that most 'high' end unlocked phones ranged in the 400-500 dollar range.

The problem is that we lack a range of good alternatives in Canada. We don't have the Evo 4G (and it doesn't look like we will any time soon). The HTC Desire is....desirable (the phone I want when my current contract's up), but again, not available yet.

The rest of the Android offerings in Canada (save for the HTC Legend, which is on Bell, an instant turn-off) are lackluster.

And I'm not a fan of BlackBerry's attempt to be a consumer product. They're business phones above all else.

So, as I see it right now, the iPhone 4 is the latest and greatest consumer phone in the Canadian market. That is, until the Desire comes.
