McMaster Daily News:
On Feb 7, invitation emails to participate the 2011 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) will start to reach McMaster first and senior year students.
This survey is being conducted in all Ontario universities during this winter. It is meant to give students the opportunity to talk about their experiences at the university both inside and outside the classroom. The survey offers a comprehensive view of student engagement by including questions that range from quality of academic instruction to participation in extra-curricular activities.
"Student participation in the NSSE is incredibly important to the University," said Karen Menard, associate vice-president institutional research and analysis. "The feedback we get through the survey is vital to improving the student experience at McMaster."
McMaster has participated in NSSE in 2004, 2006, and 2008. In 2011, McMaster continues to encourage students to participate in this survey in order to help the improve the student experience. McMaster uses this data to indicate aspects of student engagement that can be improved through changes in policy and practises.
