Other Gyms in Hamilton
Hey there,

I posted a similar thread a year ago, but I thought I'd do another just to get some updated opinions and perhaps some new answers.

I'm looking for an off campus gym to go to for the upcoming school year and was wondering what peoples thoughts are on the options available. Before anyone asks, I'm simply not a fan of how busy the Pulse gets as I prefer to just get there, workout, and leave. I realize that these other gym options may be a bit more expensive than the Pulse, but I'm willing to pay a bit more for less crowds.

From a quick Google search of the area, I found:

- World Gym/Phoenix Fitness
- McMaster Innovation Park Fitness Facility
- Anytime Fitness

Thoughts/comments/concerns?

MIP gym is small. 4 treadmills, 2 bicycles, 2-3 ellipticals. A few weight lifting machines, a small free weights area and a passably sized studio at the back for whatever classes go on (all during the work day, none at night). Plenty of showers. Pretty quiet from 6pm onwards as people leave work for the day and go home.

Have you considered going to the Pulse at different times? I think they average around 20 people or less at 6 am. The morning is always pretty empty and the big rush usually starts in the afternoon. If you're interested in the specific times you can always take a look at the stats they have on the wall of avg. number of people depending on time and month. It's located on the right wall in front of the check-in desk.

There is a crossfit gym in Westdale that offers a student rate (I have seen it advertised walking by) and there is another crossfit gym on Frid Street near the Hamilton Spec building. Both are within a 20min walk of campus.
