1st Year Courseload
Hi everyone!

I have a couple questions. (Keepin mind I'm in Social Sciences)

1) I have 6 credits of transfer credits (SOCIOL 1A06, ANTHROP 1A03), and I was wondering if I should still take 30 credits in first year or only take 24
2) Am I able to take any Level 2 courses that have Anthrop or Sociol as prereqs in Level 1?

Normally I would go to the school to get Academic Advising but I live on the other side of the country so unfortunately I can't lol

30 units assuming 3 unit course = 10 courses = 5per term. To some people it's alot, some normal to engineers it's nothing so it's up to you.

You can take level 2 courses which you have finished prereqs or take level 2 electives also

Really my problem is that I've looked through the first year courses and can't find 10 that I like, or that don't overlap.

Look at your first year timetable. Find out how many courses you need to complete for first year. Then look at the upper year courses you can take. Decide if you want to do as many cores first or complete electives first. Right now it's all balancing your timetable. Remember you can move cores around

I would definitely recommend taking a full 30 unit courseload. You can take 2nd year courses that have those as prereqs if they've been granted as transfer credits. In Social Sciences you can also take Humanities courses. These upper level courses are available to all students: http://academiccalendars.rom cmaste...etoallstudents

You have 9 transfer credits. 6+3 = 9.

Also you can email the academic advisors. Their email addresses should be on the faculty website.

Then either it's a mistake or the course you took isn't exactly equivalent to 1A06, because sociology 1A06 is worth 6 units. You should probably figure out why you're only getting 3 units for it.
