2 courses in summer school
Hi guys!
I'll be starting in September so I'm just planning my courses.
I do not want to take Physics 1bb3 throughout the year and prefer taking it in summer school. However, I wish to take Orgo in summer school too.
Is it possible to take 2 courses in summer school?

Thanks in advance!

you can take a max of 3 courses I believe, so 12 credits.

A full courseload in summer is 6 units per term, so 12 units overall. I think you can get permission to overload if you wish.

2 courses per summer term. since its term 2 only 2 courses. also you are only eligible for osap if you take 2 summer courses (for each term)

Im taking 2 courses right now. It sucks. You barely have time to do anything. 1 course max. Summer is for much needed resting. That is all.

1nfinite: i'm wondering the same thing too, so thank you for posting ur question!

kaytuh: are you taking orgo and physics at MAC during the summer? do you find the course load manageable?

i'm in first year too so i'm thinking of taking 3 units from each course for each of the next 2 summers:/

thank you in advance!!

My friend initially registered for Physics 1B03 & 1BB3 and Orgo 2OA3 & 2OB3 over the summer. It is not recommended you ever do this. He ended up dropping orgo 2ob3 since their is so much work to do for both courses thats its not manageable. Plus, the midterms ended up being on the same day for physics and orgo so it was really stressful. I would recommend just one course but its up to you.

it is possible to take 2 courses during the summer, as mentioned by others above. but i would make sure whether or not those courses are going to be offered next summer. i would say that if it was offered this summer that it would be offered again, but there could be a chance it may not be offered.
it is hard to know for sure since the spring/summer timetable doesn't come out till march.

^Orgo and Physics are usually offered, and have been for the last 5+ summers. There's lots of demand, so it's highly unlikely, even impossible that they would get rid of it unless some weird thing happens and no one is available to teach in the summer.

@OP- While it is stressful, I have to somewhat disagree with some of the posts above, depending on your work ethic and other commitments, it's pretty do-able. I was working full-time and taking 1 course per semester and it was fine. It may be a little trickier with labs and such, but if you dedicate your summer to just doing well on those courses, it's certainly do-able, and I know quite a few people who did that. There's also the alternative of taking them in 2 different summers.
