2010 First Year Council Nominations Open
PROCLAMATION! FIRST YEAR COUNCIL ELECTION

On September 29th, all first year students will have the opportunity to elect a new FYC Executive for the following positions:
  • Chair
  • Vice-Chair
  • Advocacy Director
  • Communications Director
  • Events Director
The Nomination period for the FYC Election will begin at 9am on Wednesday, September 8th and run until Tuesday, September 21st at 5:30pm. Nomination packages can be downloaded on the MSU website or can be picked up in the MSU Office, MUSC rm 201. Please note that all candidates must attend a mandatory meeting in the MSU boardroom at 5:30pm on September 21st.

There will also be two information sessions held on September 14th and 15th at 5:30pm in the Twelve Eighty Lounge for students to learn more about FYC and the MSU and ask any questions regarding the election itself.

I would really encourage all first years to check out the info sessions and consider running for FYC. I was on FYC Exec in 2008/2009 and an Ex-Officio/Mentor during 2009/2010 so you can ask me any questions if you want. It is a great way to find your way into MSU Student Government, Who knows eventually you might end up as a Board of Director(President & VP's) who earn $30k+ a year!

Also this is University and everyone starts out on even field, who you were in highschool doesn't particularly matter when you have 5000+ First Years who can potentially vote for you. Plus this election will be the first run of the new Electronic Voting system so its easier to get people to vote for you and social media plays a huge role! In any case you guys have nothing to lose.
