I thought the officiating was brutal. It wasn't necessary to dish out 9 yellow cards and a red. The sending off of Heitinga was unnecessary.

not only the yellow cards, but the dozens of free kicks really disrupted the flow of the game.

The referee gave me a feeling of being biased toward Spain.

I felt this too, and I'm not someone who follows soccer avidly.

Although the game was brutal, there was a few positives (obviously more if you're a Spain fan).

(I can watch this all day long...)

That was a pretty boring game until extra time.

The Spanish team was full of fakers. Every time a Dutch player fell to the ground, he would get right back up again after a couple seconds. Every time a Spanish player fell to the ground, he would roll around writhing in an obvious display of fakery.

Like how when two opposing players both rushed towards the ball (wasn't paying attention to who they were), the Dutch player narrowly avoids colliding with the Spanish player, save his hand which lightly brushed against the Spaniard's foot (and arguably, the Netherlander's hand would've hurt a lot more), ending in a phony, melodramatic tumble by the Spanish player and a yellow card for the Dutch.

No wonder The Netherlands received so many yellow cards. They saw right through Spain's bullshit. Unfortunately the ref didn't.

Lol, I remember that play. That was one of the worst yellow cards I've ever seen.

i agree. spain's game is all on posession and thats why they always LOOK more dangerous even though its not always so. but i thought it was a very even game. spain had a few more chances but netherlands had the better chances. van marwick said the first one to score would win it, and it was true. spain scored first and they won, however i really do believe had robben put away his breakaway, the dutch wouldve taken it.

i enjoyed the game anyways. even though the reffing was extreme. i always like watching a ballanced game between two attacking teams.

Yeah Spain!

If the Netherlands (and Germany) had better skill at taking the ball away from the other team (i.e. Spain) they'd be sitting in first and second place right now. Spain's offense is also good defense in a sense. <-- lol odd sentence.

Ya, Spain has pretty much the best midfield around (see: Xavi and Iniesta)
