the only factor is the user's laptops, source is a little slower as it requires better hardware...really curious to the result of this poll.

I am currently downloading the newer version of css, i believe v18... installing vista on my secondary machine to test 64 bit compatibility... as that is important.

we would probably use the same cs1.6 that we used all year as the package is well made and tested.

slightly difficult to have both that would be pretty sweet to have cross-version clients thought.

Updates: CSS is now version Jul 2008 (1.0.0.34) and works beautifully in Vista 64bit with 4GB of ram, no tweaking needed! only 1.4 GB compressed compared to old package which was 2gb, which included Hl2dm. I found slightly newer css versions, but they were 5000+ files larger and over 2gb.... so i stuck with this distribution.

we also got a new version of Hl2dm separated that is only 950mb!

It'd be AMAZING if we could have both.. I'm dying to play 1.6, but if the majority wants to play source I'll be forced too...please work some magic Kevin

I have some questions as well:
-Is this BYOC only?
-Is this a 5v5 tournament?
-How many teams are in this as of yet? (any one have a team already)?
-What are the rules for the tournament, 16 rounds? 800 starting money? etc etc?

It is BYOC, i may be able to rent a few laptops from the library but no guarantee on that. 5v5, but a handicaped team (eg, 4 players) may compete. No team has officially registered yet, but teams may register / form teams in this thread.

The official rules have not been finalized yet, most likely:
800 starting money, 1.45 minute round time, standard tourney map cycle (de maps), one match as CounterTerrorist, one as Terrorist (best out of two)... how many rounds/match (11 or 15) depends on number of teams participating... score is (wins both matches +2, tie (one win,one loss) + 1, lose both + 0)...hope that makes sense.. this allows us to have an accurate scale of who is winning the tournament at any point (compared to bracket style).

Most leagues play with 1:45 as their round time with 15 seconds of freezetime/buytime... 4 minutes imo seems very long.

Do you use any configs to start matches such as lo3.cfg, cevo.cfg, cal.cfg? If not I can show you how since they are really useful.

Also, I have a team of 5 ready. Any one else have any teams ready?

round time is flexible, 1:45 sounds fine to me, if you can drop me an email [email protected] with the files that would be great.

Do competitors have to be attending McMaster?

If not I have a team of 5 for source.

Check out cevo.com for ideas about rules/map rotation.

Non-McMaster competitors are more then welcome to participate.
