2nd Year
Hi,

I am a first year life sciences student. are there any upper years who are in life sciences / honours life sciences? how is it? also is it hard to get accepted into honours life sciences if your grades aren't good

thanks

You need a 6.0 to get into Honours Life Sci, it's a fixed cut-off. I can't comment on the program as I'm not actually in it but there's a fair bit of room for electives and everyone I know in the program seems to be handling the workload, which seems to a lot lower than specialized programs, quite well.

If your grades aren't high enough in first year, you can go into Life Sciences II and then reapply after second year. The average to get in is higher than 6.0 at that point though.

that helps, thank you.

some people have told me that you just need a 6.0 in second year courses to get into third year honours, i didn't know that it is higher? how much higher?

does the requirement for bio/bio/psych/psych of 6 have to be achieved or is it just overall 6 thanks

I am pretty sure that you have to have at least 6.0 in Bio 1M03, Bio 1A03, Psych 1x03, Psych 1xx3. For the remaining courses, I don't think you have to get a 6.0 but your overall average should still be at least 6.0.

Talk to an academic advisor. It will be "set in stone" unless you talk to them, since they're the ones who can change it or tell you what to do.
