Academic advising
I've been calling the office of the associate dean for my faculty because I want to get into a course but I don't have the prereq. I've called around 8 times, when someone should be there to answer the phone, but no one ever picks it up. Are they not there right now? Who do I contact about needing to get into a course?

Going in person and emailing are far better.

Advising
Not sure which faculty you're dealing with, but for Soc Sci your best bet is dropping in. I've always had luck showing up in person (plan on at least an hour wait), it's hectic but the staff are patient.

Emailed 7 days ago with only a standard form reply back (was hoping to save time off work and parking fees), I'm not surprised phoning doesn't work since it seems everyone in the department has a question for them. Bring a book with you, and a whole pile of patience!
