Admission Averages To Get Into McMaster Programs Sept 2014

 
Since there are a lot of prospective students visiting MacInsiders to ask for admission averages, here is a compiled list of admission averages posted on the Future Students McMaster site for your reference:

Anticipated Admission Ranges - September 2014 (subject to change):

Arts & Science
A minimum of 88% is required for consideration. Admission is by selection. Target Enrolment: 60

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech. I)
A minimum of 75-78%. Target Enrolment: 220

Business
A minimum of 82-86%. Target Enrolment: 600

Computer Science I/Computer Science I Co-op
A minimum of 83-87%. Target Enrolment: 45

Engineering I/ Engineering I (Co-op)
A minimum of 85-88%. Target Enrolment: 780

Environmental and Earth Sciences I
A minimum of 82-85%. Target Enrolment: 60

Health Sciences (BHSc)
A minimum of 90% is required for consideration. Admission is by selection. Target Enrolment: 160. Admission Decision Timing: Early May 2014

Humanities
A minimum of 75-78%. Target Enrolment: 565

Integrated Science
A minimum of high 80's is required for consideration. Admission is by selection. Target Enrolment: 50. Admission Decision will be released in early May 2014. While most offers to the Integrated Science program will be made in early May, a few select offers to highly qualified applicants might made in March, 2014.

Kinesiology
A minimum of 87-90%. Target Enrolment: 200

Life Sciences
A minimum of 87-90%. Target Enrolment: 840

Mathematics & Statistics
A minimum of 82-85%. Target Enrolment: 90

Medical Radiation Sciences
A minimum of 83-87%. Target Enrolment: 140

Midwifery
In the past, a minimum average in the low 80s (%) has been required for admission consideration. Admission is by selection. Target Enrolment: 30

Music
75-78% and successful audition. Target Enrolment: 35. Admission Decision Timing: Early May 2014.

Nursing
A minimum of 87-90%. Target Enrolment: 140.

Physical Sciences
A minimum of 82-85%. Target Enrolment: 65.

Social Sciences
A minimum of 75-78%. Target Enrolment: 1040.

Studio Art I (Bachelor of Fine Art)
A minimum of 75-78% and successful portfolio interview. Target Enrolment: 30.


NOTE FOR MOST PROGRAMS:

February - March, 2014 – Applicants presenting a minimum of 3 final or 6 midterm Grade 12 U/M courses will be considered for admission on a rolling basis (applicants must have 6 Grade 12 U/M courses completed or in progress, including program specific requirements).

April 2014 - Applicants will be reviewed again upon receipt of second semester midterm grades (offers will go out on a rolling basis as grade data is received, until May 15).

For Social Science, is there a required grade for high school English (ie. >70%)?

Not according to their published admissions requirements.

However, English is included in your calculated average used for admissions, so if you bombed English, it could drag your average below the cutoff. The minimums shown below are estimates, and may or may not correspond to the true cutoffs.
