last averages for engineering programs
Hey guys,

I wanted to know what the averages were like for 2nd Engineering programs for last years batch.

But dont count on it. If your year has a really high average then many programs can easily go up and vice versa. Remember, this is CUT-OFF not average so if you had a mark lower than posted then you wouldn't have made it into the program.

around 10 - 11 for most programs, which is an 80 - 85

Now you know why so many engineers fail out first year

4 for most typically, some are 6, management is usually around 7.

Yeah Id go with this. Most of the more 'competitive' programs are around 5-6. Dont go by last years averages. Those were quite low.

Aim for a 7. Will get into any program bar Biomed and possibly management.

That's BS. You need at least a 4(60%).

With at least an 8, you've eliminated at least 2/3 of all Engineering 1 students.

a 4 is required to STAY into it. i was tlaking to sally williams and she said last year the lowest for mechanical (normal) was a 6.9

That's normal because a LOT of people apply for mechanical. There's a reason the average required for engineering physics s just a 4. It's because people get scared of the word physics, so less applications, average is lower than mechanical.

It all depends on how many people want that stream vs. how many spots are available.

Don't worry about it. If you really want a program, make it your top option. If you don't get in, contact the engineering services people and argue/convince them to make an exception.
