Advice on references
Hi,

I was looking into some level II applications, (mainly transferring into bHsc), and one requirement is an academic referee. I don't need a letter, but still have to manage the contact information of what I assume is someone in a professor position/similar. Any suggestions/advice/ideas on how to find a proper academic referee? Most of my relevant professor's office hours consist of long lines and even group meetings with the professor instead one on one (it becomes tough to introduce yourself properly here), and during lectures, shine or not, I'm sort of lost in a crowd of 350-600 people.

Any ideas? what worked for some of you guys?

Have you thought of speaking with an academic advisor? I don't know if they'd be able to help but it's worth a try. Jennifer Richardson is really good, I suggest her. Good luck!

Get to know your professors and TAs. The best way to do this is to ask an in-depth question at the end of one of your classes that doesn't have another class after it.. even if it means waiting for like 10 students to ask questions. 1st year sucks because of the amount of people who show up to office hours, but try it with all your classes, and chances are there will be a class that its not very popular to need to ask questions... in which case just ask for clarification on a point or just complement them, then shake their hand and introduce yourself.

TAs count too, because some of them are either graduates themselves or working on a 2nd degree!

Jennifer Richardson is in the Academic Advisory Office which is on the 1st floor on CNH room 107. Just walk into CNH, first (and only) door on the right. Her email is [email protected] and her extension is 24326.
