Alien movies
The District 9 thread got me thinking about alien movies, and how there hasn't been any good ones for a while. Does anyone know of any (recent) alien movies? I'm thinking like War of the Worlds or Signs.
EDIT Okay now that I look into it, I realize I have seen a ton of alien movies over the last year or two (Cloverfield, Knowing - which SUCKED -, The Mist, Day the Earth Stood Still, etc) But still, does anyone have any other good ones?

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is probably the best one recently, although it might not fit into the theme of alien invasion you might be looking for
You could always follow io9.com if you're into science fiction movies.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?
Although the trilogy (in five parts) is waaaay better than the film. And it's also not really the kind of aliens you're thinking.

Watch the original 'The Day The Earth Stood Still'. It's got that old movie charm and totally beats the recent one.
Hmm. Men in Black? LOL. No, well, there hasn't really been any good ones recently.

I thought this thread was going to be about the "Alien" movies lol, and I was going to say that Alien vs Predator: Requiem was a terrible movie.

There hasn't been been a lot of good alien (or even sci-fi) movies lately. I'm really looking forward to James Cameron's Avatar in December. It's been a while since he's done something that's not an underwater documentary or Titanic.

Aliens vs Monsters?
(If the title has Aliens then the movie is bound to have Aliens)

You thought that was a good movie? I thought it looked really cool, but the story was terrible - wouldn't make any sense whatsoever if you never read the book.
Anyway, a few pretty good Alien movies I've seen are Stargate (the movie that spawned the TV series), Alien (the original one) and Fire in the Sky. Fire in the Sky was really weird and was apparently based on an actual "abduction" reported by some guy in the 70s and his recount of what happened. It was really ef'd up :p. Kind of a hard movie to find online.

The Mist is the only recent alien movie I can think of that I truley enjoyed. Avatar looks interesting, but the SciFi community is hyping it to the point where they'll be disappointed no matter how good it is.

I thought it was okay. I went in knowing the source material, so maybe that helped my enjoyment of it.

Oh, War of the Worlds (2005 one) was good too I thought. A lot of people seemed to hate it for some reason though... I thought it did the book justice :p.

Tom Cruise. Enough to ruin any movie.
Don't ask me why, but I can't stand watching anything he's in. Same with Kevin Costner. Except "The Untouchables", where Costner's suck is overshadowed by Connery and DeNiro's awesome.
For some reason I love this Smilie :|

I was going to say the same thing. Admittedly though, I still really like Cruise's performance in A Few Good Men. Love that movie.
