Anthro 2E03
The prof who taught this class when I took it is now gone...so I'm not sure how much the course has changed.
Out of the three mandatory second year courses I liked this one the most.
We had a lab component which I found interesting...we got to play with casts of the different hominids as well as some actual bones of primates.
The course consisted of
- a nutrition lab
- a midterm
- an essay about baboons
- a final exam
- tutorial participation

The teacher is different so no one will know how the teacher will teach the course.

Dr. Prowse is teaching it this year, and taught it last year. According to the course outline from last year, the breakdown was this:
Midterm 25%
Final 40% Cumulative
Lab Assignments (written) 2, totalling 20%
Lab Participation 15%
Anyone here taken this class or any class with her?

I'm debating whether or not to take this class, and by judging the breakdown, it doesn't seem bad. The only things that bring me down are essays and since there aren't any, I'm leaning towards taking it.

It seems really interesting, and follows 1Z03 (which I loved) pretty nicely. I'm going to take it I think, it's like not full surprisingly.

Just an update.
i took the course last semester with Dr. Moffat as the instructor. She did a really great job and we had a lot of class discussion that was interesting. There were 2 midterms and 2 short papers, all were really fairly based off the course material, and the labs did a good job backing up all of that information.

Was the 'lab' an hour long and called a tutorial? Next years course calendar just says lecture and tutorials dand doesn't mention a lab.

It is called a tutorial but it's actually a "lab", not so much scientific, just interesting things to do and discuss! They are only worth 5 % for the whole semester which is odd.

Took this course last year first semester 2012/13. Textbook = useless. Tutorials = show up for participation marks... also some random test questions were based on tutorial assignments so you had to kinda pay attention in tutorial to get those right.
I'm the type of person that aces tests but not essays. Scored really high on the tests (content is easy) did worse on the essays, they were marked pretty hard. did much better on second one than first one. If essays are not your thing maybe think twice about this course. Exam definitely brought my mark up (easy).
Skipped a lot of lectures, wrote bad essays (like 75% on one and 85% on the second) got an 11
