2. Becoming a CA in todays saturated environment is not for everyone, you need to be the cream of the crop and if your remotely concerned about not having sufficient marks to transferring then you need to forget about perusing a CA designation.

To be honest, when someone's hiring you, they don't care about your marks. That's stupid. It just matters if you're likable and knowledgeable.
For a CA designation specifically, who knows. No idea why I'm in commerce anyway. Trying to get out :(

For accounting and finance grades are the components that get you the interview, the rest is up to your interpersonal skills. Having actually gone through the interview process getting your foot in the door is done solely by your grades and occasional networking

You're an idiot, bro. You need to have certain credentials (namely, a competitive GPA), if you want a lucrative (partnership at a big 4 firm, maybe industry) career.

Hmm, I have to say that if I do stay in commerce, this is somewhat of a relief. The grades part is easy, but I seriously have to start networking.

Actually, for any interviews, its more like resume/CV/cover letter > networking > grades > luck. Grades are excusable up to a certain point..

LOL, you have taken one commerce course 1E03, wait until the upper years it does get difficult especially with the constant mid terms/assignments.

Lol...
I somehow doubt it's impossibly difficult to get a 10 GPA.

It was to my understanding that this thread was about Commerce I. I was referring to that specifically.

Science is much harder than commerce. From experience, the first year bio courses are exponentially harder than any of the "commerce" courses I've had (COMP SCI 1BA3 and COMM 1E03). Don't ask me how the averages are so low for the commerce courses, though.

it isn't, i transferred from the science faculty and memorizing is one of my fortes which pretty much guarantees me an 11 in 5/10 courses. However, just like in the sciences one needs to put in the effort in order to get the 11-12s

Ah, makes sense.
But assuming someone isn't a dumbass and does their work, it seems like the grades won't be a big problem.
