Any first year math courses for term 2?
I just thought right now that I don't want to have econ 1bb3 next term, and was looking for a math course. I already have math 1ls3 this term. But now i just want another math course for term 2 just so i can continue to have a math course in each term. I feel if i go without math for a semester or at least i did in high school anyways, it feels so weird, especially when you come back the next year to a math course.

I thought i cud take a math 1a03 term 2 but there isn't any. Is there anything else i can take? or am i at a loss here?

Maths 1B03, it's linear algebra.

Math 1ls3 covers a lot of the same content as math 1a03
The continuation to math 1ls3 and 1a03 is math 1aa3. its mostly about integration and power series

whats math 1lt3? how does it differ from 1ls3

and for linear algebra what kinda material do you learn? does it make sense for a life sci student to be taking it?

MATH 1LT3 is to 1LS3 what 1AA3 is to 1A03.

(it's the followup - Calc for Life Sci II)

2 years ago I think, so this is the 3rd year. I think they introduced 1LS3 in my first year when they first split up the sciences into the 4 sections (Physical, Life, Math, and Env/Earth). Then the year after they introduced 1LT3, don't know why there was a lag time though.

Well, I kind of didn't think to mention LT3 because I wasn't sure whether you wanted a follow-up course or not. Like it's been said, it's just like 1AA3 is to 1A03.

Anyway, Linear Algebra's like matrices and vectors. I'm just taking it this term, so we're only partway through, but it's good...especially with Dr. Krepski.

I'm also taking this course right now, and I agree - Krepski's awesome. It's worth getting up early for.

Lozinski's also teaching it now, and you don't have to wake up early for it (1:30 p.m. classes ftw).

How'd you find the first midterm on Tuesday night?

It's sort of useful, and sort of not. Matrices have a wide variety of uses, but since it's an intro to a math course, you won't get to see them much in play. Although, you do get to see some applications.

(i.e. Today, we did a proof for average temperatures being the equilibrium temperature for three identical containers of water under the same conditions (except for their different temperatures), given that there's heat transfer going on and it's an ideal system with no heat loss.

Frankly, I found the midterm to be okay - pretty good, actually. But then, when Dr. Krepski asked the same question, there was an outbreak of sarcastic laughter, signalling that the majority didn't like it. .___. Which makes me worried that I might actually be THINKING I did well but...ehhh...

Also, thoughts on the project? T__T
@Bug: Yes, he is so worth getting up for.

Anyway. *coughs* It's a good and required course to take if you're interested in maths and want to take more, upper year courses (which is why I'm taking it, incidentally).

I thought the midterm went pretty well for me, except for the "always, sometimes, maybe" part - I probably got a bunch of marks off for that. And I only took a brief look at the project, but it's already scaring me, lol.

I didn't like how the multiple choice questions were worth 4% each T_T

SAME! That was the only really annoying bit, because it was the most-weighted question from the entire paper...and MC. Also, the last question.

And yes, the project is scaring me. Not to mention how busy I am next week. :/
