Cogeco is offering 120 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up for only $64.95 a month. Had Cogeco before, awesome service, even better than Rogers.

For that speed and price, its a gamer's wet dream.

Sounds good, basically Im subletting with like 4 people (7 later) and the landlord expects us to share the WiFi (15d/0.5u)!

Im getting mad ping spikes from Teksavvy even at like 2am.

Wait, so you are going to share this with 4 (7) people? Or are you getting your own line?

If you are sharing then you need a 3rd party ISP (like Teksavvy) that offer unlimited data.

Yes we are sharing;

The problem is finding a decent ISP that not only provides unlimited bandwidth, but also good line quality.

The line we have now is 15/0.5, and the ping is very jittery even with no one streaming/downloading/uploading etc

Jittery ping = teleporting

And I have tried pingtests with wire instead of WiFi, and I get like 40 ping with 18 jitter.

How long are you subletting for? Many 3rd parties that offers unlimited data has a steep initial investment cost (you have to buy modem, installation charge, etc) and might not be worth it if you are only staying 4 months.

If you don't care about that, then I would recommend CIK Telecom. Not sure if you want Cable or DSL, but they have great tiers regardless.

This current place has Cable with them and I have 3ms jitter with 23ms ping connecting directly to a router.

Subletting until April of next year

How is CIKs customer service? I find nothing but negative reviews for them

The problem with 3rd parties is that they have to go through 1st parties (ie: Cogeco). So a lot of supports is going to be delayed or becomes problematic.

Example: If you install with Cogeco, they gives you a 2 hours window of installation. If you do it with a 3rd party, Cogeco will give you 8 am to 5 pm window.

See the difference immediately? People will end up blaming CIK Telecom for these problems that a 3rd party can not solved. Hence bad reviews.

Once it get hooked up and started, there is no reason for you to deal with customer support. Lines are maintained by Cogeco and Cogeco does a great job.

You really do get what you pay for. Balance out the pros and cons and take it from there.

I've been with Teksavvy twice now. Haven't had any service problems, although my most recent setup was a nightmare-- mainly because of shit wiring and documentation in the building. Unless you call early in the day, Teksavvy will have a super long hold time. Otherwise, once it's up and running, there are no problems.

You should be talking directly to Teksavvy and see if they can rectify this problem.

Why is it pinging a server in Michigan?
