Any info. on lung cancer?
I'm not a heavy smoker (I smoke 1-5 cigarettes/day only during the school terms)
I completely quit smoking during the summer (for 4 months) and smoke again when I come back to school.

I've been smoking in this pattern for like 3-4 years now.

Just today morning, I woke up with this chest pain.
It's not a consistent chest pain but when I move my body in certain orientation, my chest (in the lung area) hurts.
I've had this mild shoulder muscle pain for 2 months now, but this is the first time I'm experiencing a chest pain.

So yea.. right now I'm really freaked out and I've decided to quit smoking completely.
Does anyone have any information on lung cancer?
I've read some info online and chest pain was one of the early symptoms.. so I'm really scared.

If you are familiar with lung cancer, please share any information that you have.
Thank you.

Yeah, I would go see a doctor and not ask a group of students about important medical issues.

i wouldn't jump to conclusions. go to see a doctor and don't listen to anyone here because we only probably know as much as you. a chest pain could have many reasons. i get chest pains sometimes and i don't smoke.

if it stops hurting while you're in certain positions it might very well be costochondritis, which is caused by inflammation of the cartilage attaching to your sternum. I've had this before and it can hurt like a b****. Cracking your sternum (like the way you crack your knuckles helps) by extending your chest upwards helps, and take some advil or something. But you should still really go to a doctor to get it checked if an advil doesn't help. Also, stop smoking.

Thanks for advise guys

Yeah.. I am definitely quitting this time.
I'll probably wait for 2 or 3 days and if the symptom is still there, I'll see a doctor

It's very unlikely for it to be lung cancer (assuming you're in your early twenties), and a fairly light smoker.

Regardless, chest pain is not something you should screw around with, so I too would suggest seeing a doctor. Could be a lot of things. Perhaps a broken rib?

I highly doubt it is lung cancer, you are in your twenties. From first hand experience, lung cancer usually has already metastasized before it will show any signs symptoms and it is the secondary cancers that usually show symptoms. Anyways, I highly suggest you get a full checkup from a doctor.

My advice is for you to look in the mirror and repeat the following:
"I am not in danger, i am the danger!"

I've seen a campus doctor today and she told me my lung sounded just fine.
She thinks it's a problem with my muscles due to my weird and interesting sleeping position.
It scared the fck out of me for a day :(
I guess I won't mess with my body again..

I'll take your smokes for you. Reduce temptation and such.
