I'll let you know after I head out later tonight.
Hopefully it'll be gone when I walk by.

There is a Cadbury plant right behind Burger King. That place makes everything stink, and I think the smell travels through the sewer system.
If you are at Fortinos, it smells like some sort of cooler. Berries or something. Refreshing from your typical steel-town-armpit stink.
When you are in westdale the faint smell of it registers more as dirty garbage dump berries. I notice it when you walk past sewers.
In front of burger king, close to the crosswalk, there is a person-hole (manhole) there with some steam rising. It is that same berry smell, but at such high concentrations it smells like the Kool-aid guy threw up straight into your mouth. Not in a cool way though, like Kool-aid threw up real vomit into your mouth. It hits you very hard and unexpectedly. I usually laugh as a reflex to it for some reason.
If we are smelling the same thing, then that it what it is. I am an olfactory person so I find smells interesting. They go straight to your higher functions brain bits!

Weird... everytime I walk down Emerson, near Whitney Ave, I smell something which seems like something burning.

It says Cadbury on the side, but you know most companies will work under one name and make a variety of products. Who knows what the berry smell is from, could be flavoring, could be some other process.

I always thought that it was a sewer smell... It's pretty much everywhere where there is a manhole in westdale and even in McMaster (Between Keyes and Bridges). I find the smell to be worse during the night, I don't really smell it during the day.
I always thought it was just a crappy sewer system...

That manufacturing facility is under the brand name "Cadbury Adams" which is the subsidiary of Cadbury which produces candy. The smell you're smelling from the manufacuring facility (at least the smell I'm thinking of) is from Swedish Berries.
There is no chocolate being made in that facility.
Cadbury plc is the company that produces chocolate, and Cadbury Schweppes produces beverages.
PS: The "plc" in Cadbury plc stands for "public limited company, which is a British term. (inb4: what does plc stand for?)
