Assigned to a wrong class?
I will be taking Mech Eng 2Q04 this coming term and MUGSI
gave me the timeslot for C01. When I looked at the Master Timetable,
there's a note on the side of C01 that says that it's only for students in mechanical.
I looked at C02 and it says that it's the one assigned for students in mechatronics students only.

Am I in trouble? If I switched to C02, I would need to change the timeslots for 3 more classes
as it will be in conflict with each other.

Do I really need to make the switch? Does it really matter?

How can the algorithm/system have missed this?

I would switch it to C02.

Most of the time lecture attendance does not matter, but you get the odd prof that does care about attendance.

You can email the prof to see if it makes a difference, but there must be a reason they've split up the cores like that.

As for how the algorithm/system missed it...it's SOLAR. *sigh*

I actually didn't realize they could section like that--for my courses, whenever they want my program in our own section, they just give us a new course code that's cross-listed with the one everyone else takes--that way, as long as you register for the right course, you're guaranteed the right section.

Dang it.

I don't want to go through all the trouble trying to change 4 courses around.

This blows.

Any help / ideas on a work-around?

Ryan, do you have the same issue as I do?

I really hope not as switching courses around is a PITA.

But given the exclusivity of the sections, I'm guessing that it really is.

It does matter. I took MECH ENG 2Q04 last year and the two sections are different from each other. Like it says in the master timetable C02 is for Tron students only. The material is slightly different from what students learn in the mechanical only one.

Also if it does end up royally messing up your timetable and the courses are mandatory there may be changes. Last year I remember I had 2 mandatory courses conflicting with one another and they changed the times towards the end of August I think so it was conflict free.
