Mills Library is seeking art for the new Mills Library Learning Commons! There is a five year comptetion focusing on the themes of the Learning Commons: inquire, explore, discover, create, learn.
The 2006/7 theme is
Inquire!
If you're interested in this year's theme, you will need to submit a cover letter, artist statement, resume, concept statement (size, media, connection with theme), visual support material (sketches, photos, maquettes, etc.), budget, examples of previous work.
Size must be appropriate for the white brick wall in the Learning Commons
Proposals must be received by
Friday Jan. 18, 2007 to The School of Arts,
TSH 414 Attn. Judy Major-Girardin.
Entries will be juried by representatives from Mills library, studio faculty and the student body. Selected candidate will be notified before Reading Week.
Prize: Winner will create proposed work and be
awarded a purchase prize of $1000 upon completion. Work must be ready for installation by
June 1, 2007. The artist agrees that the work will become part of the Mills Library collection and may be photographed for publicity purposes.
