BIO 1A03 Lab Exam
I'm a little panicky about this exam....I have good procedures and stuff, but I'm missing some details and what not, and some of the lab stuff got messed up.

Can anyone share their experience with this exam and anything that they wish they wouldve filled out, or the format of the exam? thanks!

Its easy, there's like 3 out of 30 'difficult' questions.

Unless you intend to get perfect on that exam, this is what you need:

Understand what each step in the procedure is for and why
Able to interpret results and identify potential sources of error from result
A neat lab book (it's hard to find things if yours is messy!)

You'll do very well if you got these down, but if you are a perfectionist, then also write down the MODEL and MANUFACTURERS of the equipments and stuff you used. They like to ask 1 or 2 questions about the most random things, like "what is the brand of micro pippette?" and I just go by luck.

I really dont think thats necessary.

Very few of the questions had to do with what you would have written in the lab book. Most were conceptual similar to prelab questions.

Um...not only is that considered academic dishonesty, it's not even all that useful. Assuming the lab manual being sold is not for this year, random details such as lot numbers will have obviously changed. They could have gotten new/different equipment in the lab. Depending on time and equipment, they also make random procedural changes at certain points in the lab. Some aspects of the lab may have changed drastically--as in, whole sections being removed or added.

Just write stuff down yourself...it's not that hard, and that way you'll have pertinent info that YOU need, not what they needed 1+ years ago.

Like actually looking over another person's test? I believe it gets sent to the associate dean, which means a zero plus a warning or something.

Yeah, after one offence (if it's relatively minor) you get a letter in your file, but then if anything else happens again you're in huge trouble. If your first offence is a major one (ex, taking a cheat sheet into an exam or something), I'm not sure if the same rules apply.

cheating as in not looking over someone, but sticking in a procedure , when we were supposed to have it written down in the lab book.

That's pretty much equivalent to bringing in a cheat sheet to an exam where you weren't supposed to bring anything in. That will be taken very seriously. Also, they check your lab notebooks...

Oh right, that cheating. I would say it'll be pretty serious since I distinctly remember them telling us that only things you write down can be included and nothing from the lab manual =/
