Bio 2D03.... lab exam
Should I focus purely on memorizing all pictures/diagrams , or should I know the notes as well.

Thanks.

From what I remember, the lab stations are reminicent of what you saw in the weekly labs. I would focus on the diagrams and what they mean, so go through the labs and make sure you understand all the pictures, and if you didnt see it just google it. (becuse there will be microscope slides)

For example for the types of gametophyte stages and how they look and where spores and whatver are found...its pretty general stuff.

The lab exam is more identifying and its multiple choice so while you do need to know basic knowledge its key to know what everything looks like becuase they will be showing you live samples! I don't know if you had quizzes this year but go over those beucase they are useful.

I didn't take pictures of everything in lab and googled most of it when I was studying and I did well. Its not that difficult and you have enough time

hope that helps, and good luck!

I wrote it on Friday and while I can't exactly give you details, I would say that memorizing diagrams without understanding what it is you're looking at won't be very helpful. That's not to say that the diagrams aren't important. Most people I know went through the labs looking at their diagrams and googling anything they didn't look at, while trying to make sense and understand the material along the way. Long story short, go through the 9 labs, google any pictures, understand the underlying concepts and you'll be fine . Good luck on Monday!

I wrote this lab exam on thursday, and really it's not too bad.. probably the most laid-back exam I've ever written (I might even venture as far as saying it was kinda fun... hahah). The only questions I found really tricky had to do with wood sections (transverse, longitudinal, radial sections... didn't study that... oops!) and another one where you had to look at microscope slides and place the stages of embryogenesis in the correct order (which should have been easy but none of the options made sense)... but as long as you study the pictures/diagrams you took, do a google-image search of some of the microscope slides... you should be fine. Also, make sure you know pines and ferns really well, lots of questions on those. Fill out and study the supplementary charts that came with lab five. I'd recommend studying all the notes too, if you have time (but the diagrams are definitely at a higher priority).

Good thing I'm not the only one who found it sort of fun . Haha.

the lab exam was not as difficult as I thought it would be. I would recommend reading over the lab manual (because there is some theory tested) and looking over your pictures. I didn't really have many slide diagrams (mostly just the cartoon ones provided/internet) but it was still not difficult to figure out what the microscope slides were.
