Biology 2F03
This was a fairly easy course. It took it in summer 2009 with Dr. Kajiura and Dr. Wei. A lot of it was a review from Bio 1M03, most of it was common sense and a few new things.

Haven't had him as a prof, but I haven't seen too many positive reviews to be honest. Do a quick search for Kolasa on the search efature at the top right hand corner. Keep in mind, however, that it largely depends on the teaching style. I've had several teachers where many of my friends didn't like, but their teaching style matched really well with me.

I had Kolasa for Bio 1M03 last year...kind of a dry prof but his test questions were straightforward and pretty easy...he even did this "hint" thing after every question which was very nice of him. I wouldn't say he was interesting because he basically just said everything that was in the textbook but he wasn't difficult. I'm hoping he'll be the same difficulty level for this course

I'm pretty sure Kolasa was the reason I aced Bio 1M03 His exam questions were great. They were very fair if you understood his slides. Not very tricky from what I can remember.
I was planning to take this course in 2013-2014, but changed my plans when I saw he was teaching. However, after reading reviews on him from when he taught this course, it didn't seem like a very good idea. I decided it would be wise to drop it and wait to see what happens this year.

Does anyone know if the textbook is absolutely necessary for this course?
I've had so many courses before where required textbooks were not actually required.

I had this course with kolasa in september 2012. He is extremely easy and gives a very flexible marking scheme. If you do bad on any of the components (discussions or midterm) those do not have to be counted towards you final grade. Also if you get a 90 on the exam, you automatically get a 12 in the course. He gave bonus marks on both the midterm and on the exam. Take this course!

I`ve looked at his slides and they don`t seem to have a lot of information. Do you think attending lectures will be enough to do well in the course. I was planning on just relying on the textbook, but it seems a little expensive and I haven't been able to find an online copy.

Ok so he said in lecture that older editions are ok. Did anyone use the older edition last year and find it ok on the exams.

How much in detail should I read the textbook? I know he references stuff to read in the book, but do I really need to know all those details about biomes covered in 20 pages?
