Biology Lab Volunteer Needed!
Hey everyone!

My name is Richard, I work in a Microbiology and Genetics Lab in LSB under Dr.Schellhorn.

We're currently looking for a volunteer or two to do basic lab stuff, moreso lab maintenance at first, i.e. washing glassware, making media, tips, etc.

It's a great opportunity for any student, as I know in my first two years at Mac, many profs didn't even have space for volunteers in their lab, much less moving up to a paid position.

If you are interested, please send your resume to:

[email protected]

with the subject:" Volunteer Lab Position "

by next week, Wednesday, October the 6th, 2010, at 5 pm.

Thanks.

Richard Cioci

If it says you need a resume, then you need a resume!

This is why it's always good to have an up-to-date copy.

Plus your resume might need to be tailored towards the position your applying for.

Indeed, it would be nice to know that or at least how many hours / week our services would be required, just so we know whether we have the time available right now.

Anywhere from 4 to 8 hours a week depending on how much you'd like to be there and it would be your own hours around your schedule but between the times of 9-5 and M-F

What would that start and end date of the "contract" be?
And will there be any preference given to students from one program over another?

It would be for the whole academic year assuming you fit well in the lab setting and with all the people in the lab as well.

I am inclined to give the position to someone within the faculty of science, hth sci, nursing, simply because the experience is sometimes more relevant to their academics, however I don't really have preference to your program.

Thank you to everyone who sent me an email.

I have received 51 emails and 51 resumes so please be patient for a response as I'm in the middle of midterms. You will all get a reply hopefully by this weekend, unfortunately, I'll only be taking 2 volunteers, for now, but I will keep everyone's info in case I require more soon or later in the year.

Thanks,

Richard C.
