We can't really say how much they're worth until we know what books they are. Regardless, don't buy any books before class. You don't know for sure which ones you will need.
Once you know what you need, check online listings like the Titles Classified page, Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace. You'll be able to get them for MUCH cheaper.

Definitively too much. Titles themselves sells their used books at 75% the price of a new book. Also, DEFINITIVELY don't buy any books ATLEAST until the book list is released. Although it would be best to wait until the first week of school.

80% of the original price is way too much. There's really no right price range until you know what the books are, if you can use different editions, etc. And that's why it's best to wait until after the first class. Or at least, when the book list comes out in 2-3 weeks. On the Titles website, the booklist will give you the price for a new textbook and the exact same textbook but used (it'll also tell you if they have any used copies in-store or not). Usually, buying books from upper year students should be less or at least around the same price as the used book at Titles. That's why it's best to wait.

I spent about $850 last year for all new books. However, some of my classes didn't really require a textbook (I'd say about 3), and some textbooks carry over both semesters.

Thats way too much to pay.
Just go into the Marketplace on MI and you can find most of your textbooks there.
Or you can buy them used at the bookstore for a fraction of the new price.
However, spending $600+ a year (or sometimes even a semester) on textbooks is not uncommon.

when i resell books, or look to buy them used, i usually look at how much titles is selling them for and sell them/buy them for 10$ cheaper. also look on the MI marketplace, the prices on there for the used books are reasonable and i usually sell them for the same amount everyone else is.

best thing is to do it book by book instead of just buying a whole bundle, ull be able to get the pricing right that way and maybe even save some money

When the Titles booklist comes out, you can look up the prices that they sell used books for, and it should be around there.

According to the Titles website, booklist will be out on Friday, August 5th so that should help.
