I'm curious , as i browse through the topics, but does anyone coming in CHOOSE Brandon hall? I happen to enjoy the building immensely, but maybe thats just me. Opinions, thoughts?

I didn't sign up for Brandon when I was going into first year because I knew it was a party res. Now I sound like a dork, haha!
Nevertheless, I shall be at Brandon Hall weekly next year just to bug you and all of your FLIRCS =P

I lived in Brandon Hall this past year, and absolutely loved it. Since it's the biggest res, our cheers during Welcome Week tended to be very powerful, if only cause there were so many people. After Welcome Week, the spirit kind of died down a bit, but there was ALWAYS something going on (hence the 'party res' name). Yes, the bathrooms are very public, and yes, the rooms are fairly small, but if you live on the east (? - facing the gym) side, you get to wake up every morning to a lovely pink room, cause of the sun shining through the curtains. Like everyone has said already, it's the people that really make the res experience, so I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter where you are. Plus, the fact that there are very few triple rooms in Brandon (only on first floor, and I'm pretty sure those are pretty huge in comparison to other triples), and that there are 11 common rooms to watch TV in (the Office vs. Grey's Anatomy on Thursday nights....) has to count for something, right?

lol Alex.. people always want the fancy looking residences when they come to check things out. Not pink curtains... haha
I'm sure once they're there on their first day, they'll be happy!

What do you mean when you say that the bathrooms are very public?

There are two bathrooms on each floor - one for girls, and one for guys, each with stalls (& urinals for the guys) and a shower section with 2 tubs and 2 stalls.

I see...wouldn't this be similar to other residences that have common washrooms?

I thought you meant there's very little privacy when you said "very public"

When I went to visit a buddy in res, I found Brandon's bathrooms to be the same as Whiddens, where I lived. Minus the sign that said "please stop having sex in our bathroom you whore"

Yes, I definately agree with mgallant.
Living in Brandon Hall last year was actually the greatest experience. Brandon is the biggest res building on campus, and TRUST ME, you certainly make it VERY known, expecially during Frosh Week. If you find out you are living in Brandon next year, be STOKED. Seriously. I know the first time I found out that I had to share a bathroom with a bunch of other girls and that my single mattress was like 3 inches thick, I didn't think I was going to have such a great time.
Howwwever, the people you meet and the rep of the building (and the people that live there) very much makes up for any crappy things you can think of.

That seemed really long-winded, but I can't stress enough how awesome Brandon Hall is. And in the words of some geeeeenius that made up one of Brandon Hall's most popular Frosh Week cheers: "B-R-A-N-D-O-N-H-A-L-L-S, oh yes, and we are the best!" (that S isn't a typo , it just makes the song sound better lol)

Okay I'm done.

brandon hall is known to be a party res, but I think that is just because it has alot more people. But no matter what residence you are there are always still parties, etc. its the people that make up how your residence experience is. So it changes year after year. No matter what residence you get, you will be happy in the end and learn to enjoy the experience. I will be a Community Advisor (CA) next year in Brandon Hall, so maybe I will see you there!

When I lived in Hedden, students said it was the party rez. When I lived in Whidden, students said it was the party rez. When I visit almost every other rez, they all say that theirs is the party rez. Conclusion - they're all party residences.. But, I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the building and just the people that reside in it. And, I'm also pretty sure that the people who proclaimed their rez as a party rez were just a sample of the partiers that lived there. Every rez has a diverse mix of people who all like to do different things and you can make it whatever you want it to be =)

I didn't classify Whidden as a party res.

There were some irritating partiers though.
