First of all, its better to go to your first class to determine if the prof requires you to buy the textbook or not. Also, usually there are other suggested materials listed which arn't needed. Instead of buying online I would suggest attending your first class to see which books you will need - your prof will outline this clearly, and then purchasing them from the bookstore. They dont run out as fast as you're thinking. Most of the time the used ones do go first but they can always order in more new ones if they run out of stock.

If you look on Marketplace here at MacInsiders or on Facebook, most of the time you can find someone selling for a cheaper price - just make sure its the same book.
