I have a much easier method than the multiply by number value of your courses crap and it always ends up the same.

Add up the number value of all your courses. If you have a six unit course, multiply the value by two. Then divide by the number of courses.

So if you have:
Math 1A03 (3), Math 1AA3 (4)
English 1C06 (8)
Bio 1M03 (6)
English 3M06(7)
Soc Sci 2J03 (7)
Anthro 2E03 (8), Anthro 2F03 (7)

3 + 4 + (8x2) + 6 + (7x2) + 7 + 8 + 7 = 65
65/10 = 6.5

ie

Report Card:

Math 1B03 - 12
Math 1A03 - 10
Math 1AA3 - 9
Math 1Z04 - 5
Math 1ZZ5 - 8
CHEM 4G09 - 10

Total Credits: 3+3+3+4+5+9 = 27
Total Marks: 3*12 + 3*10 + 3*9 + 4*5 + 5*8 + 9*10 = 243

GPA
Total Marks/Total Credits = 243/27 = 9
