I don't believe you can get a waiver for upper level courses in first year Commerce.

Yes you can, only if you pass the prerequisite(s) for that course or if you can get the prerequisite(s) waived.

this, but be diligent when looking up prereqs. often a prereq will be "registration in level 2 or higher" for example. consult the undergraduate calendar for full details http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /regis...lications.html

EDIT also try meeting up with the professor and asking whether you can or not, how ready you'll be, etc. afterall they designed the course and will be evaluating you.

As long as you meet all the conditions on the undergrad calendar and there are no restrictions listed, there is little reason why you can't
