can you register a course after drop and add?
Hi,

When i told my prof that i wasn't able to get a spot for the course, she told me to wait a couple of weeks until "drop and add" end, and then i will be able to register if she sends an email to the faculty.
But the thing is that her words don't seem that convincing to me, since the prof and the faculty is seperate entity (the prof doesn't have power over course seating)... and i saw someone's post that you cannot register for a course even if the class isn't full after drop and add deadline has passed.

Do any of you guys know or have experienced this kind of thing?
Thanks

It is possible in some circumstances; the reason for the hard cut-off has to do with the cost of having attended x number of courses, as well as ensuring the student won't miss too much material. First thing I would do is contact your faculty office to find out who has the power to add you to the course after add/drop period. Not being able to add/drop after the add/drop date has to do with a hard cutoff on SOLAR. Hopefully you've talked to this professor in person, instead of just emailing, in order to establish your seriousness about this matter and ensure you're not just another random emailer they'll have forgotten about. Professors have the ability to add people to their class lists, adjust marks, change rooms, etc.

It is also good to follow-up through email though, to ensure you have proof of what the prof said.

Being unable to switch into/out of the class on your own accord (SOLAR) without financial penalty.
