What did the thing say when you tried to register? Also, some first year courses are reserved for first years prioritarily over upper years

first year courses, majority of seats are for first years, there is only a bit of allotted seats that are saved for upper years and chances are they've been taken by fourth and third years already. If you need it for something or even if you just really want to take it, email and academic advisor, sometimes they'll open a seat for you. Doesn't hurt to try
