Lawl that's interesting.
I think it's the complete opposite - due to the inflation of grades* in most high schools, at least in Canada, everyone and their mothers think they should go to a university, and they need to get a university degree to become anything in life. Thus, you get a huge increase in the number of people who get a Bachelors degree, which dilutes its usefulness, and forces an increase in the number of people pursuing graduate/professional schools afterwards.
I think people (especially parents) need to reduce the stigma of going to college/trade school, because in 10 years we're going to have thousands of people with degrees in Eng and Life Sciences and no one to fix cars, or do plumbing, or install air conditioners, because those aren't "valued" the same way universities are, and kids are a "failure" unless they get a B.Sc. from a highly regarded university.
