if ur with wind, any sending or receiving of calls is considered local in a WIND zone (including toronto, miss, burlington, oakville and hamilton)

It's actually a lot more complicated than it seems. I live in Oakville and commute and I really didn't want to get a Hamilton number so I called up my phone company to figure out if I need long distance minutes or whatnot.
It's pretty much like this: calls within any city you're in are local (in this case Hamilton), calls from Hamilton to Toronto numbers are long distance, calls to Oakville LANDLINES are local but calls to Oakville MOBILE numbers are long distance.
I'm not sure where you're from but make lots of friends in Hamilton so you can call them locally.

It's not worth switching to an Oakville number unless you have a lot of Oakville landlines you intend to call.

*EDIT*: As far as I know, this applies for Fido, Rogers, Telus and Bell. I don't know anything about the newer companies. They have all sorts of interesting deals.

When I call Oakville landlines (for example, my parents' house), it's still long distance though.

*sigh* stupid technology

Oh, well then, I guess they changed it or maybe I got lucky with my contract.

Does anyone have Koodo? I was wondering if an Oakville number on Koodo would be local to Hamilton and Toronto? Or would I be safer just getting a Hamilton number.

Also, would people recommend changing my number to an Oakville/Hamilton number or keep my number that I have now and add long distance minutes to it?
