Centro

Boy, am I disappointed with the new, revamped Commons: Centro. Yes, the decor is way better than it was before. It does look cleaner and more modern. I like the new seating area, but wish someone would clean it regularly (students need to wipe their table quickly with a napkin after they eat!). What's really disappointing is the food. It is the same food that made Commons notorious. "Centre Stage" serves the same old unhealthy hamburgers, chicken fingers, and fries. "Wok Our Way" displays the standard greasy, fried "Chinese" cuisine - fried-till-they're-hard brown rice, sticky chicken and beef entrees, deep fried chicken balls and vegetables. There are also personal pizzas available like before and a new section called "Need a Sub" which I prefer the most, as you get to pick your ingredients and the sub tastes fresh and is non-greasy. Service is in strong need of improvement what with the long, slower-than-a-snail-moving lines.
Overall, pretty disappointing, as Centro is all glitz and glamour but no substance. I was hoping there would be more healthy fare available, especially at "Wok Our Way" (fresh seafood, boiled rice, fresh steaming veggies, anyone?) or Centre Stage (veggie wraps, grilled meats, etc.)
Sigh... I guess well-priced, healthy entrees on campus are something I can only dream about.

Yea, the decor is a little overkill. They could've used the money for something more useful like the residences.

I thought it was pretty nice, though I'm a first year. The noodles section (not the wok) was good, seemed healthy enough.

Recent discovery: More portion downsizing. I miss large curly fries. All my cries.

Yeah, A La Carte used to give pretty decent portions. My portion today would have been pretty filling, if I were 8. Prices were also jacked up (Again).
