Centro/New Commons menu
Has anyone here tried the new Centro (commons renovated)? How was it? What were some of the menu items?

i went there once, food was the same...well probably cuz i got a buffalo chicken wrap as i always do, one thing that was retarded is that they use lcd tvs just to show the menu so theres like 20 tvs there going to waste...i guess that's where all our money goes...

Same food except everything costs more; need-a-sub is better than Pillers and the new pasta place is closer to the student center pasta that either healthy choice or the crappy old pasta place. That's about it for changes.

The food is the same just the layout changed. Though I personally think it took a turn for the worst. It looks a lot better but there was more emphasis put into looks versus practicality.
The new dining area layout looks much better but it seems like there is a lot less seating now compared to before. I've never been there when it was busy though so not sure if finding a seat during peak hours is an issue. My main concern though is the center pillar near the cashiers with the TV's in them. There are quite a few TV's mounted on the circular pillar but I swear no tables actually face them. Big waste of money. My other beef is that the new chef's table area doesn't have heaters for the food. The food just sits in containers on the table getting cold. Not very appetizing eating luke warm to cold food.
While I'm on the subject of food, does anyone know why the Wokery closed down? I was so sad when I found out they wouldn't be opening this term.

I think everything about the new commons is horrendous.
1. The old pizza didn't taste the greatest but at least the size was managable and the price was not too tolling on your meal plan. A $6 pizza, COME ON now really. I end up wasting a quarter of it because I just can't eat the whole damn thing. What happen to all the garlic bread, bruschetta, etc etc? They seem to just be going towards a very minimal approach.
2. What is up with the salad place...they only offer 3 types of salads AND you can't really customize it. Sure you can make your own but what if you want some of the toppings that are not in the salad bar?
3. The new pasta place i find is just stupid, first of all its CRAZY expensive if you start adding things to your pasta. We already had bridges and the student center pasta places. I havent eaten in the one at the student center but bridges has SOO much more variety in their vegetables...AND its cheaper...
I miss the old pasta place with the junior pastas...albeit it wasnt the greatest pasta in the world.
5. Also, I hate the new "need-a-sub". what happen to all the variety in types of subs/sandwiches etc? The workers are super stingy and it costs, what like $7 to buy a frikken 12"? I would much rather go to subway or the one in the student center which taste a hell of a lot better.
6. Agreed about the TVs, they are completely useless and an utter waste of money.
Food for thought: what happen to that comment board that USED to be there when you exit commons?!!??
In summary: It may be aesthetically pleasing but it suckkkkksssss.

it really isn't that bad, it just gets repetitive after like a week, cause it's pretty much the same thing over and over again

How do they spend millions on a beautiful renovation and keep the same awful food.
It actually makes no sense whatsoever.
Centre-stage = sizzles, but now a much longer and slower line, same fried food. Except when you get something like a chicken caesar wrap, they give you a wrap with just lettice and 1 sliver of grilled chicken which really makes sense.
chefs table= first thing, except now they serve the food from casserole dishes. SAME FOOD ON THE SAME NIGHTS. completely ridiculous.
Needa-sub= way less options, higher price.
Pizza= don't even bother wasting your time. 6 dollars for a disgusting looking pizza that's way too big, I refuse to even try it.
Salad: way over priced, salad bar's contents is WAY less too.
Drink selection: extremely poor. Not many 'healthy' drinks, except for maybe the aloe, but even then that's sugared up. I guess water's the way to go.
The only positive is that the Chinese food seems to be better because they are using better equipment, and the to-go section is actually pretty healthy (rice +veggie+ protein).
Seriously, how can they not improve the food. not change the food at all, and then just hike up prices. At least my expectations were lower when it was just commons.
endrant.
