Changing a grade after the release of final grades.
how likely is it for a prof to change your grade after the final grades are reviewed and posted on your grade report? Do profs generally avoid the hassle of changing the grade and reporting it to the faculty?

if it was because of an error, it will be changed. If your trying to argue for a better grade, your prof wont waste their time.

Eh... not true..

I never argued, but I did ask for a bump once from 79.6 to an 80, just to get a 10 instead of 9, and it worked

I had to ask for a grade to be reviewed because my final exam got scanned through the machine as a 0 and do I got an F in the class. She manually checked my exam and changed my grade.
But two other times I had grades go up one grade point randomly in my grade report, without ever contacting the prof, and I still have no idea why they went up (I asked friends in the same class and theirs didn't go up) ... maybe I was close and got rounded?

Profs don't mind making small tenth adjustments like that. But if you're looking for a larger increase, you'll have to start mining for errors in your exams and tests.

My prof gave me one grade higher than she was supposed to and said she was going to change it, but I thought she forgot because it was never changed. This was from first semester. Then she changed it late February.

Depends, if its from an 11 to 12, even by like 0.02%, some profs will not give it.

How good of a chance do you have of getting your grade bumped if your grade is less than 0.5 away from the next grade scale (ie: I have a 79.35 and need just 0.65 to get a 10)

Depends on the prof. Some will say no, screw you. Others will do it. You're fairly close, so you have a reasonable chance.

it's entirely contingent on the professor. I had an 89.6 in a course and the professor would not bump the mark to a 90.

I actually emailed to check a mark once. Prof said it was 84.5, and said he'd bump it two lines later.

Didn't even ask for him to do it, nice guy. <33

Lol...0.65 is not less than 0.5 away from the next grade point
But yeah, it entirely depends on the prof.
