I got it, truthfully I found the past exams a bit easier. More importantly, its how badly my grade will take a hit im worried about..was really hoping for double digit grade (well still am).

Chem 1E03 is the literal toddler version of Chem 1a03+1aa3... I giggle when I hear of eng students getting <80% in that course.

1E03 is basically grade 12 chemistry; no leaps further (like a03/aa3).

I thought E03 and A03 were relatively the same course? I guess I was wrong

A03 covers more new material as opposed to E03, and thus is comparatively more difficult. However, the courses are seen as equivalent for prerequisites for second year Chem.

HAHA ! 1E03 has some new stuff too. The material covered in Grade 12 wasn't even covered in depth.1E03 has less memorization and more logic and problem solving in it since it's an engineering course.

Like I said.. A03 covers MORE new material than E03, and thus is comparatively harder. I did not say E03 covered no new material. I have an engineering friend whom I help study for chem quite frequently so I'm rather familiar with the course content of E03. I'd give a rough estimate that e03 covers 2/3 the amount of new material A03 covers, but it spends more time on it to give better comprehension of the practical uses of the knowledge.

As you said E03 focuses more on application of concepts rather than memorization. This is true for any Science Faculty Science Course in comparison to it respective Engineering Faculty Science course. Now even though the Engineering Faculty Science course is somewhat easier due to less content, that is not to say it is any less valuable a course. Engineering by its very nature relies on the practical applications of what science has found and thus A03 would not be as beneficial to an engineer as it doesn't provide as in-depth of an understanding of the practical applications.
