Chem 1R03
Hi,

I'm not sure if anyone can answer this, but any info would be really helpful. I'm going to register for chem 1A03, but at this point i'm not sure if i'll get an 80% in SCH4U after my IB exams. If I don't get 80%, do I change my chem selection to chem 1R03 on the course selection website? I have to wait till early July to find my mark out.

Thank You

I wouldn't bother, especially if you're close to 80%.

The prereqs for chem 1A03 are: Grade 12 Chemistry U and either registration in a Level I program in the Faculty of Science or Engineering I, Arts & Science I, Health Sciences I, any program above Level I; or a grade of at least 80% in Grade 12 Chemistry U; or CHEM 1R03

So really, the 80% requirement for SCH4U only applies if you're trying to take 1A03 in first year but not registered in Science, Engineering, ArtSci or HthSci.

If you don't get the 80% requirement then you would take 1R03 in first year and you wouldn't be able to take 1A03 until second year anyways. But by the time you're in second year, the 80% requirement no longer applies anyways, so there's really no point.
