Those shows aren't more intelligent, they're just less action-oriented.
Sure, while some episodes of Chuck are a little formulaic (new terrorist threat, Chuck investigates, flashes, saves the day by not staying in the car), it's the overarching storyline that draws me in.
We watch TV to escape reality; there's nothing wrong with enjoying an over-the-top show. I'm a fan of a relatively wide variety of shows and I don't see myeslf losing interest in any of them anytime soon.
Anyway, definitely looking forward to this season, but I'm expecting it to be the last.
