Comp Lit 1AA3
I took this course in the Winter 08 term.
We read 5 novels and 1 short story.
The Red and the Black - I didn't mind this novel
Crime and Punishment - Awesome
The Mill on the Floss - So damn boring, I gave up on reading this, I've read novels that are easily 5 times the length of this book, but while I was reading this I wanted to jump off a bridge
Faust - pretty cool
Labyrinths - A collection of short stories. Pretty imaginative.
The Queen of Spades
We had to write two term papers throughout the year. I had a bad TA who wouldn't really explain how to improve on my essays.
The exam was not so bad. You had to recognize passages from the books.and comment on them. Don't make my mistake and go to class for this course, he highlights what passages you need to know for the exam.
I took this course as an elective. It was probably not a smart idea. Considering that you have to read 5 novels which are easily 300+ pages, you're in for a lot of work. It was hard to find time to read when you have to study for an upcoming chemistry midterm, but if you're down for that I guess you'd like this course.
