Comp.Sci. and Soft.Eng
Prospective student here. Can anyone give me some opinions/perspectives on these programs? Seems like the Comp.Sci faculty isn't as developed as the Eng., but that is understandable. Also, why did they raise the admission average for engineering?

I'm in the Compsci program... mainly because I didn't take two sciences in high school, so I couldn't do engineering. I wouldn't say that Computer Science isn't as developed as Engineering... just that it's a lot smaller.

I think it's a lot easier than Engineering. We get a lot more electives, and the computer science courses we have are fairly basic. The math is the same as engineering, so no break there.

As for the admission average... they may be trying to cut back on the number of students next year. I read an article in the Spec that they wanted to lower the University population.

Well basically I overheard someone saying this..
"Dude if you do software engineering you're and engineer if you do computer science you don't get the professional engineer title..."

And well, software engineering has more software related courses than computer science...
In addition to that, if you want to do Game Design or Embedded Systems, you can do that too
I am not too sure about computer science having co-op.
Also you can later choose to do a 5 year Program in Engineering+Managemen t/Society

Hope that helps...
