Computer Science 1MA3
So I was looking around MacInsiders to find some information on this course (Comp Sci 1MA3) and I didn't find much on it, but what I did find was pretty horrible reviews. Now I'm thinking about changing my course, but that requires some hassle plus I don't know what other course to choose.
Does anyone have an opinion on this course that might help me make my decision?
Edit: I'm a Life Science student who is aiming for a BSc in Psychology and the undergraduate calendar said if I wanted to pursue graduate studies in psychology this would be a good course, but honestly, I don't see the relevance.

If you have any prior programming experience...I don't think you'll need this course. I took it, went to two lectures, got bored and never came back...so did three quarters of the class.
(This may be outdated information...I took this course way back in 2005)

I don't have much experience in Computer Science courses except some basics from like Grade 9 which I don't think is much help now. Is the course hard to get good marks though? If it's hard to get goods marks and useless then I'm definitely going to hunt for an alternative.

Mm but the whole point was that in the undergraduate calendar it reccomends 1MA3 for people pursuing graduate studies in Psychology which is the only reason I even thought about taking a Comp Sci course~

If you have little to no programming experience, then Comp Sci 1MA3 is a necessity for graduate research...regardless of the mark you get. You'll learn how to think like a programmer (how to compartmentalize and order your commands/functions/etc.)... and making programs to do tedious work / computations for you is not only convenient, but necessary to success.
I was only saying it's useless if you already know how to think in such a way... in which case, the course is a 'bird' course.

The course is almost entirely pseudocode and flowcharts, and it doesn't really get too advanced. If you've learned about loops, conditional statements, and functions, you basically know everything this course is going to cover. If you don't know those, then just go to the lectures.
Last year the prof threw in some Visual C++ at the end of the course, because he couldn't think of anything else to cover about pseudocode and flowcharts.

lol, I hate pseudocode and flowcharts. Flowcharts (as they are taught) become hard and very confusing to make when you're making an object oriented program :p.

@mellye: Haha I guess we'll have to work through this course together then~
@MarkA: Yeah I have no idea what those are but I have a really good friend who's a programmer so I guess he can help me. Thanks for the info~
