Concerts
I'm going to mac next year. I'm from toronto and I usually go to concerts downtown.
Are there any concert venues in Hamilton to see actual bands?

Lol, it's not like Hamilton is out in the boonies. There's Copps Colliseum and there are toooons of smaller venues around the downtown for smaller (but still awesome!) bands.

Besides, a bus from Hamilton to Toronto to see concerts doens't cost much either!

http://steelcitymusic.ca/ this site is pretty useful for finding shows. Hamilton has a big metal scene if you're into that and also there seem to be alot of indie/acoustic bands at the Casbah but I've never been there maybe someone else can attest to that.

This Ain't Hollywood has some good bands. I saw Liars with Women opening there in October, I think Warpaint played also. It's more of an indie/underground/punk bar if that's what you're into.

Haha, I know it's not like its far from Toronto.
Just out of curiosity.
I'm into pretty much everything; indie, dubstep, electro, hip-hop, rap, you name it..
A bus from hamilton to toronto is a pain in the butt

I've seen metalcore and also prog metal bands here. Not a HUGE metal fan but most of the shows have been cheap and its better than staying at home. The Agonist was pretty good and so was Protest the Hero. Tesseract opened for Protest the Hero and they are def. not shitty metal.

I think club Absinthe has dubstep nights every month, never been though.

I wish there was an electronic music scene here. I <3 electronic music.

Casbah (at King & Queen) isn't bad, it's a pretty small intimate venue with a low stage, lots of big and small indie acts pass through here.

i've been to casbah once, it's a good size and can hold enough people to have a damn good time... haha. i was there for the flatliners show and it was ridiculous

also i bussed down to toronto around 4 times for shows and it wasn't all that bad. granted it's not cheap but think of it as a mini-trip? having friends living in TO is always a bonus so you don't need to trek back to hamilton in th emiddle of the night, but even if you do it's not that bad (i do wish hamilton buses ran later into the night)
