Confused about constructing a mock timetable
Hey guys, I kind of have a question regarding choosing labs and tutorials. Like for chem 1a03 and 1aa3, thee's both labs and tutorials. Do we have to choose the same number lab and tutorials? As in Lab 5 + Tutorial 5 or can they be different numbers like lab 63 + tutorial 34. And for courses with only labs, we can choose whatever lab we want right? Like wise for tutorials.

Thanks =D

You don't have to pick the same number lab and tutorial. And yes, you can choose whatever lab you want

Oh sorry my bad, that's right. Don't think it's the same for other courses though

Yes, for Chem 1A03/1AA3 they have to be the same number. That's because they must be in the same timeslot since each tutorial/lab is every other week. So one week you have a lab, and a tutorial the following week and they alternate that way..

Yeah, it depends on the course. Chem is the only one I've taken so far where they have to be the same.

Nope, not necessarily. For most courses that I know of, labs and tutorials don't have to be the same number.

Is there a way to know when the lab and tuts have to be the same number? Or do we just guess

When you pick your lab/tutorial on SOLAR, either they will give you one option or a whole bunch of options

Exactly that. When you pick your core, and then go on to pick the next option, it should give you just one option or more than one in a drop-down menu. You can always email the IA to inquire as well.

Not really. Because you'd be choosing your ideal schedule. E.g. if there's classes with more than one core, and you want to finish your day early, you pick the earlier core. Also, if you want to even out your days, so that you don't have a day with 9 hours of class and another with 2... That sort of idea.

Here's an article about mock timetables if you're interested: http://www.macinsiders.com/showthrea...2.html?t=22732

I was told that they give you a timetable with everything on it and you just change it if you want to. Is that true?

Yep. You can change your core sections if there are more than one. You can also change your courses if an elective you want opens up, and you can change labs/tutorial sections as you wish, as long as the section you want is open.
