Cootes Clean-up

Want to do something great for the environment, your community, get outside and have free burgers? Join us next Sunday, October the 17th for the McMaster Outdoor Club's biannual Cootes Clean-up!

We're starting at 10 a.m. at the Cootes Paradise trail head by Les Prince and the Alpine Tower. We will finish around noon for a FREE BBQ courtesy of the McMaster Outdoor Club (bring a cup). There will be bags and gloves provided, and we will be awarding prizes for the oddest junk!

Removing garbage from Cootes Paradise not only makes the space a more pleasant natural get-away for us, but also helps preserve the habitat of many plants and animals.

Come to Cootes next Sunday for fresh air, free food, and to lend a hand cleaning up our neighbourhood wildlife paradise!

Hope to see you there!

You are outside for 2-3 hours, maybe longer if you would like to chill at the BBQ. And don't worry if you're a little late for the 10 a.m. start time. People will be at the trail-head for a little while with bags, gloves, and Sunday-morning cheer!

What part of cootes are we cleaning? I picked up all the trash at Sassafras Point 3 weeks ago. Hopefully it's still clean..

Edit: Did anyone else know there are CLAMS in the inlet of Lake Ontario North of Cootes?

We try to cover as much as the trail-system as we can, but where participants choose to clean in particular is up to them. That's super to hear that you cleaned part of the conservation area! Great job! I hope it is still clean too! Unfortunately, I am sure that there will be lots to pick up on Sunday in Cootes. Though if everyone is done a little early, we will just have more time to enjoy our FREE BBQ!

Re EDIT: I did not know that! I'm not sure I would eat them after hearing the e-coli levels of some of the streams around McMaster, but maybe one day...
